I thought the best way to start off my research was to go through the basics of what the internet had to offer. The internet, forums and chat have opened the world of urban exploring up to a variety of people. With urban exploring photography fast becoming a more popular aspect to the artistic explorers, the internet is allowing for people to share their experiences and photography. Below are some examples of what the online world has to offer.
A basic web search of urban exploring comes up with the obvious Wikipedia article. It outlines the many basic principles of the activity and has a collection of relevant links to follow. It also educates in the legal aspects of the 'sport' and allows the building blocks for people who want to know more to begin more advanced searches.
28DaysLater.co.uk is an online forum for urban explorers over the world, to share experiences and various sites for people to find and investigate. The search option allows people to find places in their local areas along with tips and tricks on how to enter the buildings without breaking the 'Take nothing but photographs and leave nothing but footprints' rule of urban exploring.
SilentUK.com is an urban exploration photography blog for members to share and discuss their pictures from various places. The website holds a high standard of photography and features many interesting sites of urban exploration. It also features first hand experiences of all the abandoned buildings etc that have been explored, allowing for a much more personal feel to the activity than maybe other websites.
