Urban Exploring on Flickr

The above are two examples of urban exploring groups on Flickr. Flickr is one of the largest online photo sharing websites on the internet with approximately 6 billion images uploaded to date, and with urban exploring using photography as a large aspect of the fun, it's not surprising there's a massive amount of these pictures online through Flickr.

For many, preserving this image of decay means many things, from political responses to the economy or materialism for example, the simplicity of decay in art and beauty or the philosophical reasoning behind it of capturing every moment, even those considered unimportant and rejected.

I wanted to include Flickr and urban exploration photography into my research, since it's a really important aspect to the activity for many.
